BEYOND CARE
CONTINUED SUPPORT
Beyond Birth PPD works to help families adjust to life after birth. Scroll to learn more about how we can help.
I was born and raised in the Dominican Republic. Growing up it was our custom to care for friends, family and neighbors in the postpartum period. My passion and purpose in life is assisting families in adjusting to life after birth. To me, this is a part of my culture and caring for families in my community is how I show up and give back. Our society often makes birth the highlight and leaves families feeling abandoned when support is most needed. Since 17 years old, the city of Grand Rapids, MI has been my home. I am married and have a beautiful blended family. My husband and I have 2 daughters and 1 son. We have 7 grandkids, who I have been involved in assisting with pregnancy and postpartum. I spoiled my daughters with traditional Dominican postpartum meals and all the support they could ever ask for. Having grandkids has been one of the most marvelous experiences in my life.
I love assisting all types of families including the Black, Indigenous, and Latinx communities. Our Latinx community often lacks community members assisting in birth and many times there is a language barrier; making it hard for families to be included in their care. I will make myself available to them and all communities. I see myself making an impact within my community and beyond. I firmly believe access to care is a part of healing the wombs and wounds of the overlooked communities that I plan to serve. I enjoy traveling, cooking, and spending time with my family. I am looking forward to working with your family, providing the support that you deserve and need. My goal is to support a diverse community, but I believe it is very important to acknowledge the communities that are trying to overcome barriers.
